NOTE: Wayland Referees uses an Internet based referee assignment system called “RefCenter." In order to be considered for game assignments you must have a RefCenter account. During the Spring season we also utilize the BAYS website to assign games, because BAYS pays referees in the Spring. Below the RefCenter instructions there are instructions on how to register, accept, and complete a game report on the BAYS website.
RETURNING REFEREES: Log in as you did the previous season. Once logged in, update your profile if there are any changes, and fill out your availability for this season. Once you complete these steps you are done.
NEW REFEREES: Setting up your Ref Center account involves 2 steps:
Setting your availability
Please follow these instructions as soon as you can so that you can be offered games. Before you can receive any assignments, you must register with Ref Center.
Look for the Register button and then click on it.
You will be asked for an activation code. Enter the following: Wayland13
This will bring you to the registration page. Please select your name from the drop down box. If your name is not there please contact Brud Wright at
. Do not select someone else’s name if your name is missing.
Complete the registration page and click the Submit button.
You will next see the Ref Center Help Manual. Use this manual as a help resource if you need it at any point in time. It is not necessary to read this manual in order to complete the registration process.
When you are ready to proceed click on the “continue” button at the bottom of the page. You will next be at the Ref Center home page. To return to the Ref Center manual click , on “Help” from the Home Page.
Setting Your Availability
Click on the Games button and select the Availability option.
The calendar for Sepember will appear. We recommend that you click on the “select all” button and then remove the checks for any days you know that you definitely cannot or do not want to referee.
Remember, you can always decline an game offer. But if you know you are going to be away, please remove the check for that day.
Please note that weekends have 3 options:
Morning (for all kickoffs before noon)
Afternoon (for all kickoffs between noon and 5 PM)
Evening (for all kickoffs after 5 PM)
If you are playing on a team, please be sure to remove the check for either Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon. Girls' games are in the morning, so only girls should have a check for Saturday afternoon. Boys are the reverse.
Any day left unchecked means you will not get any games offers on that day.
IMPORTANT - Make sure that you click on the Update button to save the changes.
Now change the month to October and set up your choices for October. click the Update button to save the changes.
Now change the month to November and set up your choices for November. click the Update button to save the changes.
Receiving Game Assignments
You will receive an email from RefCenter offering a game. You will need to accept or decline this game.
To accept or decline, login to RefCenter and visit the Games/Offers page. Click the green check to accept the game, or the red X to decline it.
Later, if you have to cancel this assignment (for which you are required to provide at least 7 days notice), go to Games/Schedule and click the cancel button for that game. The cancel button will not be shown when the game is less than 48 hours away. In this case, you need to contact the referee assigner directly. Remember, you must provide 7 days notices to cancel a game assignment. Exceptions are illness or family emergencies.
Videos will be posted over the next couple of weeks to help aid you in the process of registering, accepting game assignments, and completing game reports on the BAYS website.
