Soccer tournaments are held in various surrounding towns, usually on long holiday weekends, such as Columbus Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the Spring.

Different towns have varying styles of tournaments from competitive tournaments, where an outright winner is determined, to 'fun' tournaments where no game records are kept and everyone goes home a winner.

Often, it is customary in soccer tournaments to exchange patches with the opposing team during the post game handshake.

Tournaments are viewed as extra-curricular - above and beyond the regular soccer season. They are the responsibility of the coach, or other adult volunteer. While certain tournaments are sanctioned and approved by Massachusetts Youth Soccer Assocation (MYSA), they are generally not governed by Wayland Soccer.

Since tournaments are not a WAYS activity, teams can be made up of players from different WAYS teams.

If you are planning on participating in an area tournament and require patches, please email the WAYS Registrar at at least three weeks in advance.

Some nearby tournaments that Wayland players have competed in with good experiences are:

  • Natick - Columbus Day weekend
  • Framingham - Memorial Day weekend
  • Wellesley - Memorial Day weekend. This is a 10-and-under recreational tournament.
  • Needham - Memorial Day weekend
